Houston’s Classical Music Variety Show
Point of Departure: Houston’s Classical Music Variety Show is a new series of thematic concerts presenting classical(ish!) solo piano music, chamber music, and small ensemble pieces in a classic 70’s variety show-style setting. Think Cher Show meets lecture-recital, hip meets intellectual.
Point of Departure launches its debut season in October 2026!
Each show will feature a world premiere composition based on the theme!

Founder and Artistic Director
Described as “one of those artists who can make classical music such great fun,” concert pianist James Palmer is redefining what it means to be a 21st-century classical musician. A champion of new music, noted Scriabin interpreter, artistic director, and effusive educator, his performances connect with a wide array of audiences.
